Eight thirty in the morning (8:30am)...TRAVEL TIME!!!...God Bless our trip...keep us all safe as I silently uttered...c",)...
Having fun on the bus, we reached our first destination without noticing that we were already in:

  • First Destination: Rosalie's Bibingka
located at Maligaya St., Patubig, Marilao, Bulacan

Sir Mel Obispo discussing about the history of Rosalie's Bibingka.

TRIVIA:

Rosalie’s Bibingka started in 1997, was named after the owner Ms. Rosalie. It is a family business wherein the main products of bibingka, puto, suman, and assorted kakanin are supplied by each sibling.

Since then, the store’s product line expanded to other consigned food items like chicharon, nuts & other pica-pica including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Students took turns to claim for our Suman Sampling and some bought delicasies for pasalubong.

Back on the bus, just a 30 to 40 minute ride, we arrived in LUGAW NI ABEL in Malolos, Bulacan.

  • 2nd Destination: Lugaw ni Abel
      located at Mojon, Malolos, Bulacan

We excitedly gathered inside “lugaw ni abel” restaurant to claim our next stub and try the menu.

Stub #4 - Lugaw w/ Tokwat & Beverage courtesy of Lugaw ni Abel

Obviously the best seller is LUGAW! What people are talking about that goes with in it...is the cow’s brain or cow’s eyes! I don’t eat those extraordinary foods but they kept on saying that it’s delicious. They said that the cow’s brain tastes like the yellow one on ‘balot’ and the cow’s eyes just taste like ‘litid’. I still didn’t eat though hehehe only the lugaw (congee), it also goes with ‘tokwa’ and its yummy sauce (Matamis) and a beverage.

TRIVIA:

Lugaw ni Abel started in 1989 serving plain lugaw. After which they tried it with cow’s brain and eyes which became popular. The restaurant was named after the mother Mrs. Isabel (where the name ‘Abel’ came from), and is now being run and managed by the daughter and owner Leoncia Bautista. “Lugaw ni abel” is popular for their lugaw (congee) with exotic meat base such as cow’s brain, eyes, tongue, heart, intestines etc. Try it and you'll gonna love it!

Side Trip:

Some of us dropped by along the way in Santisima Trinidad Parish Church just beside the Lugaw ni Abel, to say a little prayer before we head back to our bus for our next destination. We appreciate the beautiful and colorful stained glass windows, and enjoy the peace and serenity of the place.

TRIVIA:

Santisima Trinidad Parish Church of Malolos, Bulacan

The origins of Barangay of Santisima Trinidad goes back to the Spanish colonial period when it was called Barrio Santisima Trinidad. The 1903 Census of the Philippines Islands listed a Barrio Santisima Trinidad under Barasoain, Bulacan with a population of only 299, the smallest among all the barrios (compared with population of 6,111 according to 2007 Census). According to an interview with Christopher Cunanan, old time residents of Santisima Trinidad recalled that prior to the 1981 renovation of the old church of Santisima Trinidad, a marker showing the 1863 can be found in the main door of the church. With this long history of devotion to the Santisima Trinidad, one will not be surprised to find out that there are four devotional images of the Santisima Trinidad in this community. During the fiesta of Santisima Trinidad, processional images of the Santisima Trinidad are paraded starting from the bisita of Santisima Trinidad (the former church of the Santisima Trinidad prior to the erection of a new church located a few hundred meters away).

Until Trinity Sunday this 2012, three images can be found in one place as a rare exception to the rule that these images should be taken cared of by separate hermanos. The residence of Hermano mayor (2011-2012) Abraham Santos of Barangay Pinagbakahan houses three images where devotional prayers and songs are celebrated every first Sunday of the month (in the morning) and everyday in the afternoon.

1st Pit Stop:
We left Lugaw ni Abel with full stomachs and satisfied cravings.

We had a pit stop in Wetlands of Candaba for some of us need to use the comfort room and for the sake of all to be comfortable having a good long road trip going to our next destination.

And then we proceeded straight to San Fernando City for our scheduled next destination.

  • 5th Destination: Kabigitng's Halo-Halo
branch located at Marquee Mall, Angeles, Pampanga

Stub #7 - Halo-Halo courtesy of Kabigting's Halo-Halo

TRIVIA:

Kabigting’s started in 1974 as a small carinderia at the house of Boy Kabigting in Arayat, Pampanga. This small family business became popular for its yummy and delightful halo halo that it became known for. Soon, people from far away places started looking for this hidden wonder and thus the title, Pride of Arayat.

What differs the version of Kabigting’s halo halo from the others is its succulent simplicity. With only three main ingredients in it: mashed kidney beans, jalea (carabao’s milk pastillas) and cream corn, this unique version does not overwhelm the sweetness of the dessert but brings balance to the ingredients and with a taste that surprisingly compliments each of the three. For only 60php ($1.5), this halo halo can definitely satisfy your summer cravings.

From a small carinderia, Kabigting’s now has 8 branches which is a testimony of how popular their halo halo has become. This popular merienda place now also offers a variety of food in their menu such as their equally popular palabok, a comfort food among Filipinos.

Kabigting’s Branches:

Nepo Mall, Angeles City Balibago, Angeles City Marquee Mall, Pampanga San Fernando, Pampanga Arayat, Pampanga Guagua, Pampanga

Manila Branch: Amoranto corner Banawe, Quezon City

Owners:
Jacinto Kabigting
Flora Kabigting

Some students and our school admiration headed to Duty Free to have some shopping spree. If I'm not mistaken it's on sale. Some went on strolling and some went to the powder room.

Its really on sale 'cause we've waited for those who went on shopping for almost two hours!!!...Those who left on the bus keep on chatting and joking, while the others fall asleep. For those who have extra money are lucky enough...like my buddy/seatmate...he bought a sparkle wine for $1.35 for two!!!

At last everybody check-in to their respective buses...now we're heading to our next destination. Since we are running late, we skip to visit "Totobits".

TRIVIA:

Eating without spoon & fork...Kamay Kainan!...saarrraaaappppp...c",)

After dinner...walking around and have some picture taking...

TRIVIA:

Filipino dining experience, then Apag Marangle (Dining in the Farm) is definitely the place to go. Apag Marangle was established in 2008 by two long-time friends and partners Manuela Cherry Pasion-Tan and Mark Edmon C. Navarro who both have passion for food and are both lovers of nature and tradition. Apag Marangle’s concept is to give their customers an unforgettable dining experience by offering authentic Kapampangan dishes in a farm setting. Their main branch is in Olongapo-Gapan Road, Bacolor, Pampanga which is situated literally in the middle of a farm. We visited their branch in Marquee Mall, Angeles City which is just a few kilometres away from the Clark Freeport Zone. Much to our surprise, stepping inside Apag Marangle feels like we are not inside the mall. True to its concept, Apag Marangle Marquee Mall is designed like a native bahay kubo which will make you feel like you’re eating in a farm. Local Kapampangan songs by Andy Alviz and ArtiSta. Rita (Filipino musicians promoting traditional music of Pampanga) playing on the background adds to the authenticity of the restaurant. One can’t help but be transported on a cultural journey upon entering the place. These features of the restaurant coincide with the advocacy of the owners—to promote cultural preservation and environmental causes through handicrafts and music.

Sir Louie ask us if we want to have a dessert, either ice cream or halo-halo before we to proceed to our party venue. Seems everybody agree to skip the dessert and go straight to the party. Next destination...Partyland.

The Partyland

Party-party! Some of the students went on drinking, chilling, just to have some fun. While some prefer to stay in the bus, maybe they want to rest.

The night comes so fast we have to go home. Feeling heavy due to sleepiness, tiredness, full stomach, I want to go to my bed immediately but in the bus with my classmates, we can’t stop the fun and laughing trips. Half of our way, everybody is sleeping until we reached our designated unloading area, Burger King, Timog.

Sometimes, it’s really good to be kid again. Nothing to worry, just laughing and enjoying.

We really had our best trip ever. Thanks SKD ACADEMY and God for this wonderful experience. SKD academy for me is one of the best culinary school, friendly staff and you will earn new experiences and meet new friends...c",)

Thanks for visiting and reading my blog...Happy reading & listening...!!!

Chao!...Good Mornight to all...now i can sleep...just finished this gastronomy culinary blog...zzzzzzzzzzzzz...c",)
